Hi there:

it's been a while since my last newsletter - 7 months to be precise. On the other hand, not so much has happened recently. Anyways, it's time for a new edition. A few people re-registered for the newsletter already since they thought that my database had crashed or something since they weren't receiving anything :-)

1. New sponsor for supplements

Since January 1, I have a new sponsorship agreement. The company "Bodies", based in Hamburg/Germany, offers the product lines PerfectNutrition, MuscleMax and Rx that are the right choice for both fitness athletes and bodybuilders. The general manager of Bodies, Wolfgang Franke, has himself been bodybuilding for more than 40 years and knows what kind of supplements athletes need. www.bodies-shop.de

2. FIBO 2007

At this years FIBO trade show (http://www.fibo-power.de/en/fibo_power/index.php) I will be at the Bodies stand (hall 10-11, stand 10-11/10c) and will also be on stage as part of the Bodies team. You can, of course, meet me there and I will be signing autograph cards and offering my new DVD (see next point). Every now and then I will pop over to the stand of NAC (www.nac-germany.de) in the same hall (stand E12), the federation I compete with.

3. The Lyen Wong DVD - Do it the Wong Way!

Yessir! I have my very own video out now! The German company Sport-Video-Hits has produced a DVD that shows...me! Experience more than 105 minutes of kick boxing, stretching, yoga, cardio and choreography training and competition footage. Follow me in a complete workout with helpful explanations and learn how to prepare nutritious yet tasty meals and snacks (yes, I cook!). The definitive highlight is the sexy photo shooting for a Brazilian swimwear company! Sounds good, doesn't it?

What was most challenging for me was to speak so much German! The cameraman almost went nuts with all the takes we had to do :-)) But don't worry, the DVD is bilingual and there are English voice-overs and/or subtitles.

4. Vacation in Florida!

Now on to something more private: I went to the US for the first time! As a Cuban it's usually not that easy if you don't like to swim but with my German passport (I have been a German citizen since 2004) it was much more relaxed by plane!

We spent 10 days in Orlando, Miami Beach, Key West and Daytona Beach. I met many old friends from my hometown of Matanzas/Cuba who have since emigrated to Florida. Every one of them has a story to tell that would be fit for a movie! We all met at a BBQ in Key Biscayne which was extremely nice and relaxing.
We had rented a nice little car (see attached pic and this video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCpXCmpVXaA) and I was doing very well as a "Miami Vice" character... Especially nice was the drive to Key West in the convertible and I turned almost black right away - that's what the African genes I inherited from my grandmother do to me... :-))
I particularly liked the Art Deco District in Miami Beach (we stayed in a historic hotel right on Ocean Drive), the night life (I just say: Mango's) and, of course, shopping. We also attended a car show at the famous Daytona race track since my husband is such a car nut.

5. New pictures in the galleries at www.lyenwong.com

I recently added new images to the galleries on my website. They are from the same photo shoot that is featured on the DVD. Check out the new pix in the modelling, swimsuit und art galleries.

BTW, you should always enable pop-ups on my site since I use them to inform you of new additions or special features on the website.

6. Competitions 2007 and training

How is my planning regarding competitions this year coming along? I wrote in my last newsletter that I'd take a break last fall and this spring to add muscle mass. Unfortunately, I had some problems with my shoulder and back and couldn't keep up my training schedule as planned. But I still plan to compete at the NAC championships this fall.

But I wasn't completely idle. Among other things, I did an intensive workshop with Mayan Salsa world champion, choreographer, ballet and modern dance performer and fitness competitor Ruby Karen (www.rubykaren.com) to add more artistic dance elements to my choreography. Watch this space!

7. Lyen goes MySpace and YouTube

Lyen goes Web 2.0! I now have a MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/lovely_lyen) and try a search for "Lyen Wong" on www.youtube.com ...
