Hi all,

since my last newsletter, the FIBO trade show and the German championships (NAC) happened and the world championships are coming up: time for a new issue!

1. FIBO 2006

The leading event for fitness and bodybuilding was a true highlight again. After a few meagre years, visitor figures are on the rise again. I was in the FIBO POWER hall almost all of the time and there at the stand of the association I compete with, the NAC (www.nac-germany.de). That was not as planned as I wanted to spend just a few hours there but due to "popular demand" ended up staying much longer :-)
For one, an association doesn't have much to show except for its atheletes and I was happy to be the "magnet for the masses" so to say. On the other hand, I had photos with me that I planned to sell with my autograph. I still have very little experience with this and was surprised by the demand: on Saturday afternoon we had to dash to the photo store to have a few dozen more made in order to be able to meet demand on Sunday. Apart from that, there were endless photos taken with the fans. Some of them had to be reminded that their hand belonged on my waist for the photo and not anywhere lower than that...!

It was also very nice to meet many "colleagues" at FIBO. It was especially enjoyable to meet Jimmy Atienza again (he's the good looking guy in the middle in this picture: http://www.lyenwong.de/pix/fibo_atienza_dasilva_small.jpg). Jimmy and I both worked as Personal Trainers at the "Holmes Place" fitness studio in Madrid when I lived in Spain (2001-2003). He was at the show as part of the "All Stars" team and together with some other Spanish athletes we went out in Düsseldorf after the show and had a blast!
A very pleasant experience was meeting Regiane da Silva (see http://www.lyenwong.de/pix/fibo_dasilva_small.jpg). Of course I had heard about this remarkable Brazilian and read about her (world champion Aerobics AND fitness) but had never personally met her. At FIBO she was at the "All Stars" stand and performed on the FIBO POWER stage. We talked a lot and as fellow "latinas" hit it off right away.
Of course, all the stars were present at the show. Have a look at http://www.lyenwong.de/fibo2006_en.html to see my pictures with Ronnie Coleman (8x Mr. Olympia), Dorian Yates (6x Mr. Olympia and my sponsor) and Dennis James.

2. German championships 2006

On May 20 the German championship 2006, organized by the NAC, took place in Korntal near Stuttgart/Germany. Due to my first place at the German Intl. championships in 2005 I was automatically qualified and competed with the top atheletes from the regional championships. A few athletes from last year did not compete while there were some newcomers this time. There are two parts to the championship: qualification in the afternoon and the finals in the evening. My new choreography with a Spanish theme and an exciting flamenco music mix was well received even through one jump did not work out perfectly in the first round. The choreography worked like a charm in the finals and also in the two other judging rounds all went well. In the posing round I tried a new outfit while in the evening gown round I trusted the Chinese dress that I had bought in Hong Kong for 25 US$ and that my seamstress in Cuba had fitted me and that I had worn at the Miss Universe competition last year.

At 9 pm the presentation of the prizes began and I ended up taking home the 1st place trophy in the Miss Fitness category! After only taking 2nd place at the German championships last year in Schwerin (with only 1 point difference to the 1st placed), this year I managed to win the jury over completely. Many thanks to the audience in Korntal who gave me their full support!

3. World championships 2006 in Spain

The 1st place at the German championships got me onto the national team for the world championships organized by N.A.B.B.A. International Inc. (http://www.nabbabenidorm.com/). On June 9th to 11th, athletes from all over the world will meet in Benidorm on the Spanish coast to contest the title for each category. I hope you all think of me on those days!

That's all for today, folks!
