Sorry for the long wait. My last newsletter came out in April, just after the FIBO show. Since then, I have moved to the US! No kidding, I live in Florida now… As a little present to you I have attached a picture from sunny Miami!
Bodybuilding in Cuba – the video
You know that I’m native Cuban and I travel to the island about once a year. I went to visit my family in my hometown of Matanzas in May, right before coming to the US. I’m somewhat of a celebrity over there and I visited several gyms and was greeted with flowers and had to give autographs… a lot of fun!
There even is a bodybuilding association in Cuba but the training conditions for the athletes are difficult as there are few facilities available and the “right” food is hard to come by – to say nothing about supplements! Still, it is impressive what some of the guys have achieved working with what they have… It seems that the authorities take a dim view of the sport, too, as bodybuilding competitions often encounter mysterious administrative hurdles.
The difference between the gyms I go to in Germany and the ones I visited in Cuba is nothing short of striking. It’s like being on another planet! On the cover in Dubai and on air in Miami
I was on the cover of the June 2008 issue of “Physique magazine” (http://www.physique-mag.com) from Dubai. There was a four page interview on the inside that was conducted during the FIBO show.
Also in June I was interviewed for the morning show of the Miami radio station “Caracol”. I hadn’t done a live radio interview before and it was a great experience!

My brand new websites
I have taken some time and have completely redone my websites: http://www.lyenwong.com is now a splash page that takes visitors either to my competition website (http://www.lyenwong.com/comp/eng/) or to my personal training website (http://www.lyenwong.com/pt/eng/). There are different language versions, too!
There is a lot of new content:

A little help for my friends – Tiro D’Mente
My cousin back in Cuba is the leader of the band “Tiro D’Mente” that plays great reggaeton and latin pop music – and I just love their tunes! They have a website now where you can listen to their songs and see their first video clip. The video was shot in Havana and it’s a lot of fun to watch!
